The Edgy Chic

There are some cities in this world where you constantly play in a whimsical world of “dress up” when getting ready for the day.

I’m talking stilettos on, sleek and chic pants buttoned, blazer styled, hair curled, face perfectly polished. And yes, I’ve come to terms with the fact that Austin, TX isn’t so much one of those cities. Most of my “dressing up” consists of the right pair of high-waisted denim and a shirt that I could basically sleep in. But regardless of this laid-back Austin style (or whatever city you’re in), I’ve decided it’s up to us to make a fashion statement. In other words, dressing it up can also mean dressing down. This comfortable and oh-so-cozy outfit consists of my favorite Joe’s high-waisted grey denims skinnies, and the softest Splendid jersey tee (I could live in it!). But the best part is having the ability to dress it up—add in my favorite d’Orsay pumps, Kelly Wynne Duffle bag, douse myself in an excessive amount of Kendra Scott Jewels (cuff, ring, earrings), and top it off with just the right Kate Spade sunnies. But wait, there’s more. When you’re feeling extra-extra casual (this happens maybe too often for me), throw on a pair of flip flops, booties, and maybe a flowy sweater, et voila… you’ve both dressed up–and dressed it down!
